Terms of service
Last updated October 2026
These terms are between you (“you”, the business) and WovaPay (“we”). By creating an account you agree to them.
What WovaPay does
WovaPay reads “payment received” text messages on a phone you link, keeps a ledger of them, matches them to codes you create, and can notify your website. WovaPay is a record-keeping tool. It is not a bank, a payment processor or a wallet, and it never holds or moves your money. Customers pay directly into your own Mobile Money account.
Your account
- You create an account with a username, email address, phone number and password, and give us true details. You are responsible for keeping your password secret and for what happens under your account.
- You may only link a phone and a Mobile Money number that you own or are authorised to use.
- You may link up to three phones to one account.
Plans and payment
- The weekly plan costs GH₵30 for 7 days. The monthly plan costs GH₵100 for 30 days.
- You pay by Mobile Money to the number shown on your Plan page, using your own reference code. Money you send becomes credit on your account, which is used to start or renew a plan.
- If you turn on automatic renewal, we renew your plan from your credit when it ends. We never take money without you sending it first.
- When a plan ends, your phone keeps new payment texts and records them again once you renew. Payments are still recorded for 2 days after a plan ends.
- Credit and plan payments are not refundable once used. Unused credit can be requested back by contacting us.
Your responsibilities
- WovaPay reads messages; it cannot confirm that money has reached your account. Always keep your own Mobile Money statement, and check it before you hand over goods of high value.
- Do not use WovaPay for unlawful activity, to impersonate another business, or to attempt to interfere with the service.
- Do not rely on WovaPay as your only financial record.
Availability
We work to keep WovaPay running, but a phone must have internet access and WovaPay must be allowed to run in the background. We are not liable for payments that are recorded late or missed because a phone was off, offline or restricted, or because a network changed its message format.
Ending your account
You can stop using WovaPay at any time. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms. To delete your data, contact us.
Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, WovaPay is provided “as is”, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 30 days before the problem.
Changes
We may update these terms. If we make an important change we will tell you in the app or by email.
Draft text. Have a Ghanaian lawyer review these terms and the privacy notice before launch.
